FAQ

What can I expect?

In the first instance, I offer a telephone consultation to discuss your difficulties and how I may be able to help.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is an initial assessment in which I will ask you questions about any problems and will ask you to complete some short questionnaires.  I will also give you some more information about my services and ask you to complete a short client information form.

How long does each session last?

Sessions last for up to an hour.

Can I bring someone with me to the first session?

If you feel that this would be helpful as part of the assessment.   For younger children I would expect a parent (or parent) to attend the assessment session and other sessions.

When do you offer appointments?

I currently see clients on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

I work full-time, do you see people in the evenings?

I offer some early evening appointment slots.

Are the sessions confidential?

Yes, anything said within the session is completely confidential.  However, if during the course of therapy I have concerns that you may harm yourself or another person (or there are concerns about potential harm from others), or if any safeguarding issues arise, then I will break confidentiality and will inform you of my decision to do so.

How much do the sessions cost?

My rates vary according to the type of work (therapy or sports and exercise consultancy) and whether you are paying as a private individual or have private insurance.  I am registered with all the main private healthcare insurance companies.  On occasions I will offer a discounted fee for those suffering financial hardship. How many sessions will I need?

The number depends upon the problem and its severity.  On average therapy clients attend between 8 and 12 sessions and I will initially contract for 6 sessions and then review at the end of this period. Sports and exercise clients will typically average around 6 sessions.

What is your cancellation policy?

I require a minimum of 24 hours notice for a cancellation, otherwise you will be charged for the session.
